Rourkela: Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, Govt. of India has constituted Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) 2013 to facilitate allocation of seats to students in all the 30 NITs, 4 IIITs and other Centrally Funded Institutes. Prof. Sunil Kr. Sarangi, Director – NIT, Rourkela will be the Chairman and the Directors of all the above institutes are going to be the members of CSAB.
In addition, Director dealing with JEE matters of MHRD, Govt. of India, nominees of CBSE, NIC and AICTE, Prof. Rajat Moona, Director General C-DAC shall also be the member as per previous practices.
CSAB-2013 would be especially responsible for finalization of procedure and schedule for seat allocation, resource centers and help centers and making necessary arrangements at those centers, printing of brochure designing for on-line choice filling forms, maintenance of website, distribution and collection of seat choices on-line, laying down of procedure for verification of certificates and credentials, coordinating with concerned agencies for seat allotment against State/UT-quota seats, pending matters with CCB-2008 and CCB-2009. Also, CCB-2010, CCB-2011 and CCB-2012 including court cases shall be transferred to CSAB-2013; and any other task(s) related to counseling and allocation of seats against All-India quota will also be the responsibility of CSAB-2013 .
As per the NIT Council’s decision, the merit list (all India Rank) for admission to NITs and other CFTIs (Central Funding Technical Institutes) will be prepared by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) by giving 40% weightage (suitably normalized) to class XII or equivalent examination and 60% to the performance in JEE (Main) examination.
