Bhubaneswar, Oct 3: Utkal University campus turned into a combat zone again after a fresh clash among section of students and non-students. Last night around 25 people came all of a sudden and attacked the students of one hostel where by 6 students including a former student union president were injured.

Vanivihar has become a hot bed of settling political scores of various political parties. For last 3 years in some pretext or the other the campus is witnessing violence of higher order than academics. After frequent clash and assault, university authorities had postponed the election for the current year.

In last night attack a number of bikes have been burnt into ashes. Police making an inquiry into the incident and have arrested 4 persons in this connection. The university registrar Debendra Nath Jena said, “We have informed everything to the Government and Police and seeking their support to restore normalcy in the university.”

State student congress president Chinmay Sahu alleged, “Due to lack of exemplary punishment all these ugly cat fighting happening frequently in the university. Government shouldn’t show lenient attitude to anyone found guilty.”

Byomakesh Ray, State student union president of BJD, demanded a fair probe into the incident and called for an immediate solution against violence.
